Formula E has extended and broadened its partnership with Eurosport. The broadcaster will air all 14 rounds of the electric street racing series across Europe for the very first time. The agreement starts from season four with the double-header in Hong Kong on December 2 & 3. It is for three years and covers 54 markets.

Eurosport will hold exclusive and sub-licensing rights across Europe with the exception of the UK, Italy and Spain. It will sub-licence a number of rights to free-to-air broadcasters, which will complement its own coverage in selected markets. These will include France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland.

Eurosport broadcasted Formula E for the first time in Germany, Poland and the Nordics region in 2015. Then it added the Netherlands last year.

Founder & CEO of Formula E Alejandro Agag said the news of the new agreement is fantastic. He pointed out that Europe is a crucial market for the championship. Its base is both Formula E’s growing popularity and the growing demand for electric vehicles.

Eurosport CEO Peter Hutton said that “there is a very real symmetry between Formula E and Eurosport’s values”.

“We believe we’ve played an important part in helping to grow the sport. We’re thrilled to be able to play a part in bringing it to more people”, he added.
