The session was quite eventful as drivers and teams got acquainted with the new surface at the Silverstone circuit. Steering the F1 cars proved quite a challenge. Hamilton even mentioned this is the bumpiest track he’s been on. There were a few offs – Romain Grosjean’s had the most serious consequences. He crashed, damaging the front end of his Haas.

At the very end of the session, Max Verstappen stopped on the start-finish straight. He thought there was a problem with the gearbox.
