Sebastian Vettel was fastest during the first day of the second Formula 1 pre-season test. The Ferrari’s driver best time was 1:20.396min. Valtteri Bottas of Mercedes was second, at 0.2sec behind Vettel. Max Verstappen gave the third best time, 0.253sec behind the German driver.

Vettel made 171 laps on Tuesday, followed by Verstappen (130) and Marcus Ericsson of Sauber (120).
13 drivers took part in the test. Renault, Williams and Mercedes had both their drivers practising at Catalunya.
McLaren had serious technical problems. Stoffel Vandoorne stopped twice on track because of power unit issues. A hydraulics problem meant that the Belgian had less than 40 laps at the end of the day.
Toro Rosso-Honda also did not get a lot of mileage. The team lost a lot of time with a problem in the car and Pierre Gasly had 54 laps.
