Gianni Agnelli’s grandson Lapo Elkann sent a letter to Ferrari on the occasion of the new SF71H launch. The 2018 car of the Scuderia was presented in Maranello.
Elkann wrote:
“Just a few days ago, Enzo Ferrari would have been 120 years and today – thanks to the new SF71H – dear Scuderia Ferrari, you definitely made him one of the most beautiful gifts that he could have expected.
With this Red F1 car, you made a great gift also to all the Prancing Horse’s lovers, to Maranello, to Modena, to the whole of Italy and to its people. But not only that, because Ferrari touches and impassions all the people of the world, energy that very few have.
Red is the colour of passion, of blood, of our finest wine. Red – for everyone – is the colour of Ferrari; first of all and before all. Thanks to this new car, we can look back and we can get back to the glorious moments which wrote and made the history of motorsports, we are going back to pure red.
To me, F1 means the cutting edge of technology. But also a great love. But never as big as the one I have cherished for Scuderia Ferrari since day one.
For this year I have a big dream. I would like to see again the Ferrari cars ruling the championship. I would like to see its drivers – Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen – on the highest steps of the podium. Indeed, that’s what you deserve.
They say that dreams are wishes your heart makes, yes, this is mine but also the dream of my companies’ teams, Garage Italia and Italia Independent. During each test, each qualifying session, each pit stop and each race, we will support you and we will push you with all our hearts and our souls. Behind the podium, we would like to see the Italian flag flying, our flag, our Scuderia’s one.
