Andrea Dovizioso denied Marc Márquez the World Championship title in Sepang by winning an exciting race in the wet.
The Italian beat his teammate Jorge Lorenzo to claim a sixth win of the season on his Ducati. This way he kept his title hopes alive with Márquez coming home fourth.
Márquez’s lead has been cut to 21 points but an 11th placed finish in Valencia on November 12 will be enough to become World Champion for the fourth time.
Johann Zarco led the early stages of the race before the Ducati drivers made their moves with the Italian taking the lead on lap 16.
Zarco hung on for the final podium spot, while pole starter Dani Pedrosa finished in fifth. Pol Espargaro completed the top 10 with teammate Bradley Smith back in 12th.
