Sebastien Ogier took the lead in Rally Argentina after the first stage of the event. The M-Sport driver was almost a second faster than anyone else in the Ciudad de Córdoba (1.75km). Argentina is the only race in the current world championship he has not won. Dani Sordo and Elfyn Evans shared the second place after setting identical times in the stage.

“Every year we go there with the ambition of securing victory for the first time. That has not changed this year. We want to win, but it won’t be easy”, Ogier said

Thierry Neuville was fourth – 1.7sec behind Ogier. The Hyundai driver said he regretted a small mistake in the opening corner. Jari-Matti Latvala and Mads Østberg took fifth and sixth.

Earlier Latvala was fastest in the shakedown in front of Hayden Paddon (+0.1sec) and Dani Sordo (+0.2), etc.

“The feeling is good to start the rally with. Maybe I could have been quicker in a few places, but otherwise the performance was good. Now let’s see what happens over the next few days. No issues so far”, the Finn commented.
