Max Verstappen thinks Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel should be ashamed because of the crash at the beginning of the Belgian Grand prix.
The Red Bull driver did not start well and attacked Raikkonen at La Source, trying to take back his position. Vettel was on the outside, turned in and the three of them had an incident. The collision caused multiple damages to the cars. Later in the race Max Verstappen had a battle with Kimi and the Finn became really angry with the younger driver’s behavior.
After the race Raikkonen warned that the teenager will cause a big accident if he continues driving like that. Vettel thought Verstappen was to blame for the first crash.
Max Verstappen did not agree with either of them
“I think they should be ashamed to cause a crash like that with their amount of experience and then complain about me”, Max Verstappen said. “They don’t have to make a drama about what happened afterwards. They have to understand I’m not happy with them screwing up my entire race.”
“There was room for three cars. When I got alongside Kimi, he started squeezing me. If Vettel hadn’t turned in and left one more metre of room, we would have all gotten through.”
Max Verstappen adds it is clear on the video how Vettel turns in and drives into Raikkonen. He also states his philosophy is:
“If they screw up my race, I’m not going to make it easy for them”
“If Turn 1 hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t have been so aggressive and pushed Raikkonen out like that,” he admitted. “He had to lift a bit, but the stewards thought it was fine so it’s all good.”
Unfortunately no luck in the race. Tried to fight back in front of my fans, but the car was too damaged. #BelgianGP pic.twitter.com/IeWBx8linR
