Sebastien Ogier was fastest in the Rally de España shakedown. The M-Sport driver’s best time on the 2.97km stage was 2:05.2min.
Kris Meeke with Citroen C3 WRC was second in the standings, 0.3sec slower than Ogier. Andreas Mikkelsen gave the third time on his debut with Hyundai.
There were no serious problems for any of the leading drivers in the shakedown. The worst was probably the moment when Esapekka Lappi stalled his engine during the first pass.
“It feels good to be in the car after quite a long break. The shakedown was nothing special in my opinion, as it is not so representative of the rally, so the balance and the set-up was not the best over there. But we know it’s like this and it should be good for the rally. For sure we want to have a clean run, stay out of trouble and hopefully finish on the podium”, Lappi said.
