Kimi Raikkonen was fastest during the second day of the first pre-season F1 test at the Catalunya circuit. The Ferrari driver’s best time was 0.023sec better than Lewis Hamilton’s.

Kimi gave the best time with soft tyres, while Hamilton’s was with the supersoft compound
McLaren had more problems today and had to change the power unit in Stoffel Vanddoorne’s MCL32. The Belgian driver still managed to do 40 laps but only Lance Stroll was slower than him. The new Williams driver went off in the morning part of the test. There was no spare front wing and that was the end of the day for the Grove team.
Meanwhile Honda explained that McLaren’s problems might be related to the oil tank’s design. An oil system issue stopped Fernando Alonso yesterday after his installation lap. Now the engineers in Honda’s facility in Sakura will investigate the reason for the halts.
“Based on initial investigations, we think the issue is related to the shape of the 2017 oil tank, but it requires further investigation before we can confirm this”, YusukeHasegawa said.
