Baking fever has once again gripped the British nation – and Skoda UK is no exception. The car manufacturer has partnered with the professional baker and 2016 Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown to re-imagine a delicious, small-scale replica of the iconic Fabia cake. It comes more than a decade after Skoda’s advert, which saw a life-size version of the Fabia car made entirely out of cake.

Candice Brown drew inspiration from the new sporty Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo that launched in September
The car’s ‘interior’ consists of six layers of fluffy lemon sponge with a mouth-watering citrus-infused buttercream. For the ‘exterior’, Candice used fondant icing to sculpt the newly designed LED headlights, wheels, windscreen wipers, front grille and the detail of the Skoda badge to create a perfect imitation of the car.

The original cake which starred in the hit 2007 TV ad was nearly four metres long and one-and-a-half metres high. So Candice has released the recipe for a small-scale version. And that means aspiring bakers can make it at home! The recipe is available at www.skoda.co.uk/FabiaCake
Candice commented: “Everyone remembers and loves the original ad. So when I got the challenge through to recreate the new Fabia out of cake, I jumped at it. We’re encouraging everyone and anyone to have a go to see if they can recreate the car.

“The beauty of baking is that it doesn’t matter how good or bad you are, regardless of what it looks like cake is always delicious, so you can’t go far wrong…hopefully.”
Aspiring bakers are encouraged to share their own homemade Fabia cake creations using #FABIAcake to win a baking lesson with Candice. The competition closes on Monday 5 November.
