Sebastian Vettel was fastest in the second Friday free practice before the British Grand prix. The Ferrari driver’s best time was 0.187sec better than that of Lewis Hamilton whose Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas was third.

The teams had both long and short runs in the afternoon. The programs were divided between the drivers where it was possible. Haas had to work only with Kevin Magnussen as Romain Grosjean missed the second practice. The team had to change his chassis after the crash in FP1.

There were quite a few offs in this session as well on the new Silverstone asphalt. The most serious one ended with a crash for Max Verstappen at the beginning.
“He was running on the harder tyre, it looked a bit like a high side on a motorbike. The car snapped to the left and then fire him off. Thankfully we’ve still got Daniel [Ricciardo] out there, so the programme is going to rely on his running for the rest of the session”, explained Red Bull team principal Christian Horner during the session.
