Jorge Lorenzo set the quickest time during the second practice session for the final round of the MotoGP season at Valencia. This was the best time for the day.
Lorenzo worked his way to the front with a time of 1:30.640 at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, finishing proceedings 0.122s up on Repsol Honda rival Dani Pedrosa.
Title rivals Andrea Dovizioso and Marc Márquez placed third and fifth respectively. Тhe reigning World Champion crashing under braking for Turn 2 during the closing stages of the session.
Johann Zarco finished as the lead Yamaha rider, with factory pair Valentino Rossi and Maverick Viñales a low-key ninth and 11th respectively.
Jack Miller maintained his encouraging form as he placed sixth, ahead of LCR Honda’s Cal Crutchlow and Ducati test rider Michele Pirro.
Pol Espargaró completed the top 10 for KTM. He crashed out of the session after falling through Turn 3, skating through the gravel trap in the process.
Aleix Espargaró placed 12th for KTM, though fell at Turn 12 at an almost identical time to brother Pol’s Turn 3 off. He finished ahead of Scott Redding and Karel Abraham.
Álex Rins was the lead Suzuki rider in 15th spot. FP1 pacesetter Andrea Iannone was 18th, having crashed heavily at Turn 10.
They were split by Héctor Barberá – bowing out of MotoGP after 8 years аnd Tito Rabat. KTM tester Mika Kallio was 19th, in front of Álvaro Bautista, Loris Baz and Danilo Petrucci.
Bradley Smith, Sam Lowes and Michael van der Mark completed the 25-rider field. Тhe latter the only entrant not to finish within two seconds of leader Lorenzo.
