Leclerc was fastest in Q1 while Vettel managed to pass that segment with medium tyres. The surprise was Pierre Gasly as he did not continue to Q2, probably because of a delay in the pits.
Vettel made a mistake at the end of Q2 and went through the grass at turn 12. He asked his team to check the front wing and the floor. Ferrari cleaned the grass and gravel. The team said there was no damage to the car.
In Q3 Hamilton was battling his teammate and managed to get in front of him with an advantage of 0.2sec
But the unexpected star of the last qualifying segment was Lando Norris who got into top 10 on his debut.
