Wallbox is to become the ‘Official Partner’ of HWA RACELAB, for season five of the all-electric ABB FIA Formula E Championship. The company manufactures advanced plug-in vehicle charging systems for homes, workplaces and destinations.

“This is a very proud moment for everyone who has worked so hard at Wallbox. It is recognition on a global scale”, Wallbox CEO Enric Asuncion said.

The sponsorship deal means the Wallbox branded race car will be seen by a potential media audience of 959 million people worldwide. This way the company will reinforce its commitment to global growth. The company has now expanded its operations across Europe, Scandinavia, China, South East Asia as well as New Zealand. Wallbox will also open for business in the United States later this year.

HWA RACELAB is the eleventh team to join the ABB FIA Formula E Championship

It is competing with two Gen 2 race cars, supplied by Venturi Automobiles. HWA AG CEO Ulrich Fritz heads up the team while behind the wheel are 2018 DTM Championship winner Gary Paffett and former McLaren Formula One driver Stoffel Vandoorne.

Formula e is the world’s first all-electric racing series. It is at the forefront of the electric vehicle movement, The championship is pushing the boundaries of electric performance as well as working towards a sustainable transport future. The races are held at street circuits in major city venues around the world.

Research, technical development, product testing as well as manufacturing take place in Barcelona. There Wallbox has strong engineering resource and capacity to produce 100,000 chargers per year. The base of software development is in Madrid. There’s also the support for the myWallbox charging management platform and post-installation customer support.

Wallbox has already collected prestigious awards. The founders of LinkedIn, Netflix Siri, the CEO of Cisco and CIO of Tesla judge it as one of the world’s most promising companies. It is also one of ‘The 10 Fastest Growing EVs Solution Providers, 2018’. Major clients include national utilities as well as car companies.
