Meanwhile, his teammate Valtteri Bottas hold on to second for most of the race. When Vettel attacked him in the latter part of the race though, there was contact. Both cars suffered damage. The Mercedes crew was even ready with a new nose but Bottas continued driving. A couple of laps before the end of the race the Finn had another crash – this time into Daniel Ricciardo. This incident went to the stewards but they said there was no need to investigate the contact with Vettel. In the end, Valtteri finished fifth.

Pierre Gasly took sixth with another stellar performance. That was “Best of the rest” position which is coveted among the teams behind the top 3.
Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean had a double points finish for Haas – seventh and tenth. Eighth and ninth went to Fernando Alonso (on his 37th birthday) and Carlos Sainz.
Only two drivers did not finish the Hungarian Grand prix. Charles Leclerc stopped at the very beginning after being sandwiched between the Force India cars. Max Verstappen retired with a power unit problem.
