Daniil Kvyat went curling in Sochi before the weekend of his home F1 Grand prix in Russia. After that he presented a new biography book about his career, written together with Russian journalist Oleg Karpov.

Kvyat met with a group of Russian athletes at the Sochi Olympic Park – Anna Sidorova, Margarita Fomina, Kira Yezekh and Alexandra Rayeva – before trying his skills in curling. The Scuderia Toro Rosso driver’s visit coincided with his 23rd birthday.

Daniil Kvyat: “It’s become a good tradition for me to set my foot on ice shortly before the Grand Prix of Russia”

This year, Kvyat stepped on ice again to have a go at curling, yet another Winter Olympic discipline – after playing hockey in 2015 and trying bobsleigh in 2016. He was joined under the Bolshoy Ice Dome by his personal coach Pyry Salmela.

“Russia is traditionally strong in ice sports, and it’s become a good tradition for me to set my foot on ice shortly before the Grand Prix of Russia,” said Kvyat.

“I’m happy I’ve gained this new experience and thankful to girls from the national curling team, who gave me the opportunity to learn the ropes of this extraordinary kind of sports.”
