Valtteri Bottas was 0.003sec faster than his Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton in FP2 for the Brazilian Grand prix. Sebastian Vettel was third fastest in the afternoon practice session at the Interlagos circuit.

The top teams worked both on qualifying and race pace. Max Verstappen lost half of the session while his Red Bull team worked on an oil leak.

Vettel had some problems. He called the Ferrari pit wall saying there was something loose around his legs. The mechanics checked the car and he went back on the circuit but he called again and said the same thing.

Hamilton was also having issues. He complained that something was not right at the rear of his car. The Mercedes answer was that he would change tyres but the Englishman wanted a bigger set-up change. When he received the reply that the team was not ready for that, the answer was that they should be ready for anything.

There was a serious crash during the session. 10 minutes after its beginning Nico Hulkenberg stepped over the kerb and on the grass at Juncao. After that he spun and crashed in the rails wall before the start-finish straight. The driver called his Renault team on the radio to tell them he was OK.
