Sebastien Ogier won the Tour of Corsica on Sunday and closes on his fourth world title. World rally championship leader dominated the asphalt rally from the opening leg, when he has fastest in all four stages. Then he comfortably held onto his lead to win by 46.4 seconds.

“What I really wanted was to win this rally, said Ogier, whose previous win at his home rally was in 2013, when the race was held in the northeastern region of Alsace. “It’s my first win in Corsica . We showed strong pace on the first day and managed the rest of the weekend perfectly.”

Thierry Neuville in a Hyundai ended 2nd. He was ahead of Ogier’s Volkswagen teammate Andreas Mikkelsen, who was a further 23.6 seconds behind. It was Mikkelsen’s first podium finish since his win in Poland in July.

Jari-Matti Latvala took 4th after struggling with setup and brakes all weekend. Craig Breen in a Citroen DS3 made another impressive performance and finished 5th. He was followed by Haydon Paddon and Dani Sordo both with Hyundai.

Top 10 completed Eric Camilli and Mads Ostberg (both in Ford Fiesta in M-Sport) and Ott Tanak. Ogier extended his overall lead over Mikkelsen to 68 points and can takel the title in the next Rally Catalunya, from 13-16 October. The Frenchman needs 16 more points.
