Valtteri Bottas was second in the classification, at 0.059sec. The Finn and his Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton (fourth in FP3) had again problems during the session. They explained after Friday’s practices that their main issue was with the tyres overheating. This morning on the Hungarian circuit it looked like that Mercedes was still looking for a solution. Both Bottas and Hamilton had spins. The Finn even hit a barrier with his car.

Kimi Raikkonen took third while Red Bull drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen were fifth and sixth.
There were again numerous problems with traffic during the session. Romain Grosjean was obviously unhappy with Esteban Ocon. Later Verstappen got between the two Saubers and crossed Charles Leclerc’s way. For such an incident against Robert Doornbos Fernando Alonso got 1 second added to his fastest qualifying time which was effectively a grid penalty.
So much waving this morning in Hungary!
