Lewis Hamilton was fastest in the qualifying for the Brazilian Grand prix. Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) gave the second best time while Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas was third.

It was not a smooth session for Hamilton. There was again the smoke seen during the third free practice. Then he had a couple of incidents in Q2 – with Kimi Raikkonen and Sergey Sirotkin. There’s still no information if there will be an investigation on these incidents.

Meanwhile, Vettel is already under investigation. The reason is that he did not turn off his engine when getting on FIA’s scales and broke them when leaving.

There were serious predictions for rain during the qualifying but it never was as heavy as expected. The rain was harder for some time ait the end of the lap. None of the three segments was on a wet circuit and the intermediates and wet tyres never were in use.

Ferrari and Red Bull managed to go through Q2 on softs. Mercedes also tried that but were late in getting out and then the rain was harder so Hamilton and Bottas were not quick enough.
