Lewis Hamilton was fastest in the last free practice before qualifying for the British Grand prix. He traded the first place a couple of times with Kimi Raikkonen but in the end, the Mercedes driver prevailed. His Ferrari rival was 0.093sec slower. Valtteri Bottas with the second Mercedes was third.
Everyone ran the soft tyres in FP3 except McLaren. It also seemed that Sebastian Vettel did not manage a qualifying simulation so the prognosis for the next crucial session remained uncertain.

The session was marred by the heavy crash of Brendon Hartley
The front left suspension of his Toro Rosso snapped at the Wellington straight. The New Zealander crashed in the tyres barrier. Fortunately, he got out by himself from the cockpit. The driver was taken to the medical centre while Toro Rosso’s mechanics checked Pierre Gasly’s car. The Frenchman did not get out on the circuit until the end of the session.
