Slovakia will host the sixth event of the inaugural WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup from 13-15 July. The FIA World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) ratified the move at its meeting in Manila, Philippines. It replaces Argentina in response to the country’s challenging economic climate. Thus the calendar will remain with 10 events.

WTCR promoter Eurosport Events met Argentine authorities in the capital Buenos Aires recently

They agreed not to organise the WTCR Race in the country this year while the decision was also approved by an e-vote of the FIA Touring Car Commission.

Consequently, Eurosport Events has reached agreements with Slovakia Ring to host rounds 16-18.

Meanwhile, Eurosport Events has partnered with Slovakia Ring for years

In 2012 the FIA World Touring Car Championship made its first visit to the circuit which is located within easy reach of the capital Bratislava. There were five race weekends in total at Slovakia Ring. From 2017, Eurosport Events has continued to promote top-level championships at the circuit maintaining the long-term alliance between the two organisations while working on the championship.

The weekend will also be especially interesting. That is thanks to joining forces with the FIA European Truck Racing Championship.
