The All-New Hyundai IONIQ Electric received the prestigious Swedish Teknikens Världs Stora Bilpris 2017. With the IONIQ Hyundai Motor is democratising electric mobility. The automotive manufacturer offers customers the choice between three electrified powertrain models: hybrid, electric and plug-in hybrid.

“Winning the Teknikens Världs Stora Bilpris 2017 is another proof of Hyundai Motor’s capabilities as a manufacturer of eco-friendly vehicles,” said Thomas A. Schmid, Chief Operating Officer at Hyundai Motor Europe. “The IONIQ is the best-value eco-car in Europe. It offers the best warranty, a great driving range and comprehensive equipment at a very competitive price. All with no compromise on design, driving pleasure or new connectivity features.”

The jury based its decision on the IONIQ’s handling characteristics, appealing design, an attractive price as well as its general practicality in everyday life, also due to its maximum range of 280km. The overall verdict of Teknikens Världs: “This is an electric car for the people”.

Since its introduction, the IONIQ has already received multiple awards, including the “Car of the Year 2017” award by Dinside in Norway, “Car of the Year” in the Compact Car category at the 2017 Trophées Argus, 2016 Red Dot Design Award, as well as the GOOD DESIGN® Award 2015 and 2016.

The IONIQ also achieved a maximum five-star safety rating from the independent vehicle assessment organisation Euro NCAP. In the test the IONIQ proved it is one of the safest cars in its segment. The model achieved top marks in all four categories: Adult Occupant, Child Occupant, Pedestrian and Safety Assist. Euro NCAP moreover appointed the IONIQ Best in Class Car of 2016 in the ‘Small Family Car’ category.

The new Hyundai IONIQ also became Next Green Car’s Car of the Year 2016

Next Green Car’s judges awarded IONIQ Electric with the top spot in Small Family category. The judges praised IONIQ’s capabilities as an all round family car. They also recognised its eco credentials as a zero emission electric vehicle.

Tony Whitehorn, President and CEO Hyundai Motor UK, said “We are very pleased to receive both of these awards from Next Green Car. It is particularly satisfying to hear the judge’s verdicts commending IONIQ Electric for its all round abilities, as it underlines what we already know; that for our customers, the complete vehicle package is just as important as IONIQ’s zero emission performance.”

The IONIQ range is part of Hyundai Motor Group’s overall plan of launching 28 eco-friendly cars by 2020.
